Officiating at the 2023 County Championships
Dear Official,
We are approaching the end of the year and the Christmas break. I would like to take this opportunity to inform you of the details of the fast approaching Swim England Norfolk County Champs 2023 and our need for officials to ensure that these sessions run efficiently and comply with licencing requirements.
A summary of the session dates are:
- Saturday 14th / Sunday 15th January – Distance Events – UEA Sportspark
- Saturday 28th/ Sunday 29th January – Main Events – UEA Sportspark
- Saturday 4th / Sunday 5th February – Main Events + Skins + Relays – UEA Sportspark
If you are a qualified licensed official, then you are eligible to sign up as an official for the championships, please use the officials link in swim meet shown below.
Officials Link: https://swim-meet.com/Availability/?m=1272
If it is possible to indicate your availability pre Xmas, that would be much appreciated as it will allow sufficient time to allocate duties covering peoples requirements.
Please indicate any dietary requirements that you may have. If you are an official in training (at any level) please use the notes section to indicate what mentoring you need to cover / finish your training. There should be opportunities for mentoring sessions during the championships, depending on the number of qualified officials attending each session.
If you volunteer to officiate for a full day, you will be eligible for lunch, providing that you are allocated for a full day. If we are fortunate enough to be oversubscribed please don’t take it personally if you are advised that you are not required for a particular session. It is my intention to allocate duties that vary across sessions and facilitate mentoring.
I am sure that most of you will have attended County meets previously and will have a good understanding of the procedures at the event. To help support those that may not be as experienced I will issue an officials handbook, for your reference, timings and any specific requirements prior to the events starting.
JL1 trainees can sign up for mentoring only for sessions 1 to 9 as these sessions are licensed level 1 and only qualified licensed officials can officiate. Please use the same swim meet link above and ensure that you indicate your qualification as JL1 in Training and also indicate in the notes section any specific duties that you require. NOTE. The distance events on the 14th & 15th January, sessions 1A,1B,2A & 2B, are ideal for lap card mentoring. For anyone who requires a sign off for relay takeovers don’t forget to sign up for the relay gala, session 10 on the 6th February.
